Chana Combined Cycle Power Plant Block 2 (782 MW) opening ceremony held in Thailand

On November 9, an opening ceremony for the Chana Combined Cycle Power Plant Block 2 (782 MW) was held in Thailand in the presence of H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn and others related to the royal family.


The ceremony was attended by approximately 3,700 people. From Marubeni were Power Projects Div. COO, Mr. Miyata, Marubeni Thailand President, Mr. Tanabe, and others; and from Thailand were Thai Ministry of Energy Permanent Secretary, Mr. Areepong Bhoocha-oom, Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand ("EGAT") Governor, Mr. Soonchai Kumnoonsate, EGAT Deputy Governor (Power Plant Development), Mr. Ratanachai Namwong, Songkhla Governor, Mr. Songpol Sawasditham, as well as members of the Songkhla military and police force, local residents, and others.


The Chana Combined Cycle Power Plant Block 2 (782 MW), a joint project between Marubeni in partnership with Siemens AG, Germany and Siemens Limited, Thailand ("Siemens Group"), and EGAT, was completed in November 2014. Siemens Group supplied the main equipment such as gas turbines, steam turbines and generators, while Marubeni handled the heat recovery steam generators, balance of plant equipment and civil/erection works. Under this formation, the project was completed in succession to Block 1 which was completed in December 2008.


At the after-party, the Marubeni participants had the opportunity to dine alongside H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn and others related to the royal family.
